 Creating Stability

When we use the rhythmic approach, while working in high drive states, it is important that we also interject duration markers, in order to maintain stability in the behavior.

Duration markers teach, and maintain stability so we need to use our own intuition when it comes to balancing a "driven" performance, with a stable performance.

Being able to toggle back and forth between duration, and release markers gives you a great way of communication with your dog.  It also allows to to adapt your training depending on your goals and the dogs drive state at the moment.

I would suggest using this method with all of your behaviors that you teach your dog.  Again, understanding that quick release marks will build and maintain drive for the behavior, and duration marks will create and maintain stability.
