Very nice, Cheryl. It looks like it's coming together nicely!
A couple thoughts/tips:
1) speak a bit softer when working one on one with her like this. She'll have to tune in with more intent if she expects your awesome direction/information to be subtle! You can always go louder later if needed!
2) Notice how she comes forward a bit to meet the food when you feed her in place? She'll often lift or move slightly forward with that right paw. At :45 she simply raises it as you feed. This is not a big deal at all, but something for you to play with. See if you can work a session from the front where you get her to really settle into the sit. You'll know she's settled in when she doesn't move either front paw at all! Small details!
At the 1:00 mark you extend your arm and cue "look". Then you proceed to move around the 'clock' into heel position. No problem here except it may be easier for Mya if you move into position first, then extend the arm, then cue "look". It's easier for her to fail if you extend the arm, cue "look" and then move. There are lessing 'moving parts' if you set up in your position first. She handles it well, but if you see her eyes wander a lot as you move into your spot, you may let her off the hook by moving into your spot first and then starting the focus training.
Nice work from the side. Did you see her mouth close in anticipation at 1:05!!?? I love that stuff.
When you are in that side position (as you are at 1:05) make sure to feed from the left hand, sharply over her head, instead of from the right. At that point, we begin to feed exclusively from the left so we can really manipulate that head position! She's ready!
Nice job feeding from left at 1:26. Instead of breaking her so far forward, release her energy UP more! Or, you can also reward her in place with a nice high head position!
Great job with the middle work, too, Cheryl. Check out the reward placement position at 1:45... see if you can feed her a bit higher, closer to your body will bring the head up.
And great job on the last rep. It looked like you were mixing two different types of training for a moment (attention to hand and attention to face) but you got it worked out nicely!!!!
You're in a very good place. Work more exclusively from heel position from this point forward. Continue to proof her focus to your face. Always reward with the left hand high above her head. you don't have to break her out of position if you don't want. And make sure the left hand comes into high reward placement position by way of the left side of Mya's head - which will prevent her from leaning out from you.
Great stuff!
