Hi Tyler!

Here is Tupper and I working on the heel.  I feel as if I am always reminding him where he needs to be.  I am constantly correcting him back.  Now, he does only have three legs, so his walking skills are not the best.  I am just not sure if Im expecting too much because of his disability or if he just isnt focusing enough.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!!

Jessica

Hey Jessica,

Try drilling him a bit on starting and stopping, only taking one or two steps at a time. When you plant your left foot to stop, if you don't feel he is going to stop perfectly in line with you, then give a pro-active pop on the leash as that foot plants down. do this until you can stop, and he can stop himself perfectly at or behind your hip without needing any prompt from the leash. Once he stops perfectly 2-3 times in a row, then try walking forward normally and see if he stays in line a little better.

One last thing: don't worry about making him sit every time you stop during this drill. Just focus on him stopping with you. let me know how it goes.
