Recall - Adding Pressure

This should be a relatively easy exercise, so don't overthink it, and keep it simple.


Here are some of the key points:

  • Start by priming the dog. Do a few repetitions of the runaway recall without any leash pressure.

  • Adjust your leash length so that it is easy add pressure. If your dog is rather clingy and stays close to you, you will want to keep your leash a bit shorter.

  • Give a gentle tug on the leash as soon as you say "come" and run backwards at the same time.

  • Keep your sessions short and sweet. No more than five minutes at a time.
