crucial but challenging

First of all this is a FABULOUS course!! My one suggestion would be to change the course name... It sounds so dry and strict and no fun...People need to know how important getting a dog to play is for whole relationship and for any type of training, especially in sports. I put off signing up because I thought I had this covered with the "Power of Playing Tug" video.

This course is SOOOO much more helpful for me because I have a small dog that doesn't seem to have much drive at all -- watching a video full of high-drive Malinois dogs is lovely, but didn't get me very far with my Coton de Tuléar.  Now I have signed up for an online agility course which basically says in the introduction: "All dogs naturally play tug, so you need to develop this to get good energy and better training results."  The course then goes on to teach the foundation skills of agility...

HOW to develop these innate play skills properly is just left for the student to figure out on their own!!!

I am SOOOO glad I came back to see the details on this course (I did the engagement course already, and it's great... My dog will work for certain food rewards.)

This course is a godsend!!!! The 22 minute video on the choice of interactive toys is BRILLIANT and I realize now that I bought toys more suited to a Malinois than a Coton!! (No wonder we never got anywhere!!)

My dog will get excited if I drag a thin rope on the floor and she'll tug a bit, but she'll also try to grab it with her front paws too and keep it. So far if I tie a string onto anything, she'll go for the string. So maybe I have to start with the thin rope to get her at least a bit motivated to play at all!! She is not a retriever-type... she'll chase something but then ignore it and walk off or take it and keep it.

I am going to try to keep a sort of video diary to monitor our progress... which is slow at the moment, but I am only on Module 1 segment 3.  However, I am already more confident than ever that we will make progress!!!

Thanks soooo much Mark and the whole Leerburg team!!!  :-)
