Hello, my name is Tony and daughter is Annaston.  We are from Oklahoma and are awaiting the arrival of our german shepherd puppy in two weeks.  She will be 8 weeks old when we get her and are wanting to get an early start in learning how to properly train our dog.  We are looking forward to having a well behaved dog.  The only question that I have right now is 8 weeks to young to start the training process?

Greetings neighbor!  We living in Houston with our German Shepherd, Blitz, and Standard Poodle, Piper.  My hubby is originally from Kingfisher, Oklahoma.  What part of OK are you guys in?

Regardless of how much your puppy can accomplish in the course, it should be awesome to have a roadmap for where you  two are headed in the process.  I wish this would have been available when my GSD was younger!

Hello everyone, I just got in a delivery from chewy.com.  The "dog bed" cot like I ordered is nice but would not hold up to a rough and tumble dog.  The dehydrated liver treats OMG my dogs went nuts over them.  What other lures are people using, I have used and like zukes, have tried raw diet which is a mess, cheese works well but gets expensive and I worry about health and the treat bear crunch. I used one of Rivers daily feedings but when it was time to eat he was pretty disappointed I didn't feed him

My GSD is like a hoover and will suck up anything put in front of her with gusto!  My Std Poodle is a miss priss.  She will eat lots of things but is so dainty and slow about it that it almost seems like she's eating it just to please you.  I'd really like to find something that she gets really excited about.  So far, Pupperoni is about as good as it gets for her, so I'd also love to hear other suggestions.  I offered raw meat once but she just kind of licked the juices off the outside! Sheesh!!  Worse, she wont tug either.  I may order the dehydrated liver treats Tracy suggested.

I use always raw meet as treats for training. With liver it is hopeless, the pieces slip too often out of my hand, which is not quite the sense of training. The dehydrated ones I don't get here, would have to import it, which is forbidden for food.  With most muscle meats it works fine. When I give chicken breast, which is also slippery, I cook or fry it slightly, so the surface is easy to handle and in the inside the meat is still raw. But be careful not to cook it too long, because then it gets crumbly and the dogs are occupied with sniffing for those tiny fallen pieces instead of focussing on you. Kidney also works well for me, but it has to be cut in a bit bigger pieces in order to have a good grip or also pre-fry it a bit.
