Our dog is a rescue.  When we got her, her age was estimated between 2 & 3 yrs old.  We've had her for about 5 months now.  I don't know if she has ever been in a crate, and we do own one, but when we leave the house, she stays in our 3 season room.  She is gated in and seems perfectly happy there.  (Of course she has a couch, a TV, and a nice view to the backyard through the sliding glass door!)  I'm wondering if there is a need to train her to use a crate at this point.  Any thoughts?
