Im a dog trainer and horse riding instructor trainer. I found leerburgs system so like mine with horses I gravitated towards this system of training. I came to train dogs on accident when ppl would stop their cars and ask if i was training for the blind or ppl with handicaps. I felt I must be doing  very good job with my own dogs so decided to take it to the next level. The one thing that always keeps hesitating ppl is my use of prong collars or ecollars if a situation calls for it like of leash walking. I haven't found a good solution for this yet so any help would be appreciated.

I decided to take this class as it seemed much more instructive in terms of what it delves into, I csnt say it going to change the way I do everything but will give me more tools at my disposal. Always very important because like horses no two train the same way. And like horses no dog has to do what we ask so here I am  as my brain searches for more info.

I myself am bevin Allison. I own 2 horses, 2 dogs,  and 1 cat. A virtual petting zoo as u will. Winston is Year old rescue gsd mix like the dog he replaced after succumbing from cancer sever month before i got him. Then there is foxy lady a 10 year old pal.  Mix found on a hwy as a puppy. Mom picked her up and she ended up with me. I'm just started her training recently and shes stubborn so its going slow. She lives for love so alot of her treats r pets and belly rubs so those r my dogs. I look forward to to this course.

Hi, I have question: If I compare with other courses about which include training I see you're using Reward Marker not in the sense of Release or Terminal Marker. But is in this case your Reward Marker not equivalent with what others call Duration Marker?

If for example I don't want my dog to leave hs bed or other spot, I don't give him a Release Marker. But I reward him for example with saying "Good, good, good" ( not continually) and reward him from time to time for staying there?

But eg if I have guests I can not go all 2,3,5 ... minutes  to him and give him  reward marker plus reward. How then can I achieve that he really stays on his spot until I release him? Especially when after a while he feels bored there on his spot or when the level of distractions around him is too high?

Hi Cristina. The marker that Tyler teaches in the course is almost the same thing that the duration marker. The main difference is that there is not an reward marker that release the dog like other trainers use. He just use one reward marker. The break signal is like a "all done signal". Have you watched the videos about different markers?
About the guests my opinion based on what I have watched in Leerburg's dvds is that he would probably put the dog in his crate or x-pen when there are guests. Management is the key for almost every behavior problem...

Bevin. I'm also a professional trainer and sometimes have the same issue with training collars especially prong and e-collars. Whell usually I try to train my clients dogs without those tools when it's possible using slip lead or even a choke collar. But when it's necessary  I say to the client and just train the dog if he allows me to use those tools. Usually I just use then with dogs that have hard temperament wich is not very normal here, most of my clients have soft dogs.
