Hi, Heather, welcome to the pack. You've hit the jackpot with LB. I was a bloody beginner and had no chance to take a course or private lessons in the part of Brazil where I live. So I had to do a long search in the internet. I found some seemingly reasonable things but a whole lot of crap and partly even believed it, for I as total beginner I had no chance to really distinguish good and bad.
With LB everything changed. I have now a whole library of DVDs, enrolled in many self study courses (Tyler's one too, love it!) I am especially a fan of interactive courses, because there I have to load up each week a homework vídeo which will be thorougly and clearly commented. There is each week a life chat and you also have a discusson forum, where you can have a very enriching exchange with your classmates. Additionaly you can watch the vídeos your mates sent in and read the instructor's comment to them. I've learned a heap out of this. Those interactive ones are more expensive of course, but all what you get is worth the money.
Just in case you're interested: I've taken Mark Keating's "Relationship Games". 3 times! Each time with another dog. Fabulous course. Then also Forrest Micke's "The Heelers Toolbox." Once with my Pit level 1 - 3, now with my other Pit level 1-2, 3 is soon to come. Later it will be the turn of my Lab-Mix. Also it was of course every time the same course material, I learned lots of new things, because each individual dog reacts differently, and the class mates also bring in lots of ideas, skills, also erros you can learn from.
At the moment there is none of those courses running, but they will soon start again. If you prefer self studies or DVDS, LB offers them also in this form.
