Feedback for Leash Reactivity. with Tyler Muto

Phoenix was a somewhat reactive dog before this course--not real bad, but she would pop off now and then. However, the coursework has transformed her. Just doing the drills everyday and becoming aware of the cues and how to handle them has made a HUGE difference in her. Thank you so much!

I've been working as a professional dog trainer for about five years mostly due to having a reactive dog and not finding the right answer on how to address her issues. Over the course of a few years, I immersed myself in research, popular training methods, and tried different trainers; including Sit Means Sit. But, I knew something just didn't feel right with their methods. A friend referred me to Grisha Stewart's work, BAT, and this felt like a better fit for me. I discovered that others were having the same struggles as me so, I pursued my certification as a professional dog trainer, still using BAT as my primary response to reactivity. I was successful more than 90% of the time, but there were a few cases, with one in particular where BAT was not successful. This case haunted me and although I was successful in working with clients and their dogs, I felt that there was a piece I was missing. Why, over many repetitions and over a span of significant time were some dogs not improving to the point of full rehabilitation? Zoe, is my latest case and that's when I decided to enroll in your course at Leerburg.
Tyler, your training method IS the missing piece! I do believe that some dogs need correction, but I was unsure how to approach it. I experimented a little, but was afraid that my inexperience would contribute to the problem. Your sequential, logical approach in introducing your system blended within my own philosophy of dog training and what a relief it was to have my work evaluated by you. Your level of expertise and experience gave me the confidence to incorporate your strategies into my training. The positive results were immediate.
So, thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge with me. As a teacher, I recognize the emotional and time demands required to assume this level of responsibility. You made an immediate, positive impact on my dog training that affects many dogs and families in Southern California.
