About

Finally, a practical puppy training guide for families who have young kids! I get it as a dog trainer, mother of two girls, and breeder of Chocolate Labs. I'm sure you will be able to relate to the kids, chaos, and everyday practical life that makes typical puppy training courses seem impossible. This course is definitely for you if that's how life feels. Enjoy your pup from the moment you bring them home following these practical lessons. FAQ

Will we learn basic obedience commands such as sit, down, stay, come, place, and heel taught in this course?

We do not teach the stereotypical basic obedience commands in this course. Instead, we focus on creating a well-mannered puppy that respects all household members, from kids to grandparents. Once you establish this foundation, obedience training will come quickly.

What age should our puppy be to benefit from this course?

We design this course for puppies between 8 weeks- 4 months.

Will this course help with my puppy mouthing and biting?

Yes. Because this course focuses more on manners and tactile training methods, your puppy learns from the beginning impulse control and the natural family hierarchy, especially around young kids.

Do you use training tools in this course?

We use a correction method centered on tactile training and mutual respect between the handler and a puppy. This method is an excellent bridge for a pup that has just left its littermates/mom. Incorporating touch and handling into your young pup's routine benefits them by displaying natural leadership and respect that will transfer to all family members. We also include using the pup's meals to promote a natural work ethic and willingness to learn their purpose within their new family and environment. All these methods are practical and seamless to integrate into busy family routines. It makes training your puppy a way of life rather than another obligation. Creating this foundation sets your kids up for the lifelong enjoyment of raising a puppy and the responsibilities that go along with it.

Will this help my kids to like my puppy?

Most kids love the idea of a puppy until that puppy starts nipping them with its sharp teeth and stealing their toys. Nipping and mouthing from your pup as they teeth and establish hierarchy within your home leads young kids to run away, let out high-pitched screams, or move their arms frantically around the pup. This behavior only makes the puppy get more nippy and pushy with them, and then the kids end up crying or avoiding interactions with the new puppy.

This course helps reset the relationship between the puppy and kids by showing practical ways to create healthy outlets and routines in their shared environment. A better bond and relationship develops between the entire family by establishing boundaries.
