I was actually able to practice quiet during the week when she barked at a visitor outside but didn't have the camera rolling.  I have a question.  How is the best way to get her to sustain the quiet - do I just keep saying good and feeding her?

thanks

Carol

Hi Carol!

That is what we are looking for!  Capturing the moments with our markers can more or less shape any behavior, and that is what we are seeing in the video!

I think at this point I would try to develop her barking a bit more, and relax on the quiet until she is barking her fool head off.  You can practice your quiet in social situation where she is barking at the door or something, though!

To sustain the quiet, you continue marking and feeding and over time you create more space in between your marks/rewards.  Then eventually you ask for the behavior, and reward when you are finished, instead of marking duration during the behavior itself.  Hope that makes sense..

Great work with the markers!!

Mark
