Student Comments: "Hi, All!  Here is a video featuring both of my dogs as we practice Speak. As you will see, Lola is so happy with herself.  She gets this!  For those of you who listened to the live chat on Tuesday night, Mark noted the nature of a Rottweiler as a protector.  You will note that as I ask for Speak, Lola speaks & Samson goes to the window. "

Instructor Comments: "Hi Wendy! Yes, it looks as the Lola has got the idea!  I'd say at this point, try to work samson by himself, as I think he will speak.  Either at the door or in your direction.  I would just wait it out I think. Also, be sure to be very clear with your marks, keeping them consistent while trying not to use any additional sounds if possible.  I think with Samson, the less information going on, the clearer it will be for him. Keep it up!

Student Comments: "Hi All,

Very happy this week with Archies progress as he was offering all sorts at the beginning and I thought he was never going to get this. Didn't mind his anticipation either!"

Instructor Comments: "Looks great!  He's a learning machine! Aside from that I've got nothing to say... Keep it up!

Student Comments: "Here's Becks. You can see he runs through his 2 previously taught behaviors sneeze and growl before he gets to speak....

Marie"

Instructor Comments: "Very good Marie!

What a fun little dog.  Nice job with the marks, toggling back and forth between goods and yes'.   Nice job with varying the amount of food your giving as well.

Only thing would be to not ask him sit, or if you do, mark it with good and reward it as a behavior in itself.

Thanks!

Student Comments: "We switched to a toy reward because one day I went to the park and forgot treats! Sometimes I use treats in the exercise and play after.

I noticed on the videos that I am consistently using my hand up when I ask for quiet, should I not do this?

Also we left the door quickly as she started barking as I moved toward the door before I even knocked."

Instructor Comments: "Good Cathy!

It'll be a snap to polish this up.

Don't forget to reward her for speaking as well!

Student Comments: "We never knew how to make Jax bark on command (for the sake of teaching him 'quiet').  He's picking it up quickly- I think a few more short training sessions he'll have it down.  Then we'll work on quiet.  (He really never barks until someone comes to the door.)"

Instructor Comments: "Awesome!  The hard work is out of the way.  He'll be a loudmouth in a couple days!!

Nice job!
Mark"
