crates

I have used vari kennels before, how ever I have 2 issues. First they do not have a crate large enough for 2 of my dogs. second the injection points from the mold injection process on the bottom of the crate create pressure points that make the crate uncomfortable to the dog.

I prefer the heavy duty plastic airline crates for my dogs. Any other suggestions for extra large breeds?

Female  rottie rescue age 9 has to crouch to stand in largest vari kennel we have been able to get.

thanks in advance

Hi Trudy

The extra large crates work fine for my Wirehaired pointers.  (One each)

I never put two dogs in a very small confined place as they can not get out of each other way.  Even dogs that live together and are each other best friend can have a bad day or get sick and lash out. Two dogs in one kennel on regular bases is not a question of if it causes a problem (fight) but when. (Even if they are fine for a year or more)

The kennel crate also becomes a personal real estate to the dog. A place to escape if they want to be left alone. My older dog uses his often to get away from his exuberant daughter when he had enough of her.  If they share a crate, that does not work of course.

I use four crates for two dogs. One each at home and one each in the topper on the back of my truck for transportation.  By far the safest place for them in case of an accident.

I use two square deck tiles in the bottom of each kennel.  It provides comfort over the knobs and in my case in the truck, it provides a draining surface after they go for a swim and then don't have to rest in puddles.
