Quiet command

Hi Mark and everyone,

Ok, we have the "bark" command nearly there.

Now, I was going to try the "quiet" - and see how I go with that one...

Do I wait for her to bark and then insert the command (so wait for the opportunity) - or shall I create the conditions for the barking eg someone knocking at the door?

Cheryl :-)

Hi Cheryl,

Honestly, I would try both methods and see which one works the best for the teaching of the quiet.

I think I would try to insert the command first, and if it doesn't work too smoothly, you can try to quiet her from a more natural bark, as opposed to our "created" bark.

Good luck!

Thanks Mark :-)

She and the boys are quiet - as Taiser (older female does the barking for them!! :-))

I have tried the command on Taiser and it works - could video her :-D

Hi Cheryl,

it took me a while to get Fritz to understand . I had other dogs around that I knew I could get to bark and this got fritz to bark but I don't think he knew why he was barking. So I did it alone with Fritz and once I got him to bark he started to catch on. After a while I would wait for more than one bark before a reward. Before you know it he just started barking at me this gave me the opportunity to teach quiet .

Hope this helps ...

P.S Try to have good timing

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your help - she got the "bark" command - it is the "quiet" command that is a challenge as she is a quiet dog :-)

We will work on the quiet command and get a video up sometime before the end of the course :-)

Cheers,

Cheryl :-)
