The most important aspect of balanced dog training that I learned during this course would be fairness, providing the dog with a strong foundation by showing them what is expected of them before introducing any kind of aversive. The importance of timing markers and well as corrections so that the dog fully understand what is being asked of them and so they know when they are doing the right thing. There were several scenarios throughout the course that reinforced or taught me something new about how to properly use an e-collar. The instructors explanation of classical conditioning and the phases of operant conditioning we easy to understand and it is greatly appreciated that throughout the course those terms were emphasized while working through different scenarios and while working the dogs. Thanks to this course I have a deeper understanding of not only the e-collar training but also general dog training as a whole.

This course was incredibly helpful for me as a balanced dog trainer, wanting to use an E collar for some of my pet dog training. I really like the idea of using the collar to get the dog to understand, but not passing along the E collar to the client, especially when their timing is not the greatest I have several clients that do not have great timing, but wanted to use an E collar and so it made me feel better about not allowing that to happen but having the maintenance where I can use the E collar where it’s supervised is a great tool to have. I also really liked how he introduces the E collar and the conditioning phase. That was extremely helpful for me because I’ve only ever heard of the old-school way of it where you just kind of blast the dog, which was not what I was wanting to do. So very happy with this course very informational. I learned a ton and I am excited to take my next course!

This was another amazing course by Mr. Ellis! I loved learning about his entire process introducing, using, and finishing with the electronic collar. I found the video segments and student demonstrations particularly beneficial to helping understand the whole process. I love how thorough the process is and how fair it is to the dog learning this new tool. For my personal use, I really enjoyed when he compared pet dog application to working dog and competitive applications. I’m already looking forward to my next online course!
