Measuring a dog for a muzzle can become a taxing exercise. In this course, we have broken this job into its most basic parts with the hope that our customers can get the right muzzle for their dogs. Cindy and I have many years of experience in breeding, training, and living with our dogs. The methods we demonstrate in this course are how we approach measuring our own dogs for a muzzle.

The course has a segment on how to measure the length of the dog's jaw and how to measure the circumference of the jaw. We then explain how much to add to these measurements to end up with a muzzle that fits your dog and allows the dog to pant when it exercises.

We discuss how to approach dogs with short snouts and wide heads. These dogs can be a challenge to fit with a muzzle that is properly sized and functional.

When dog owners have reactive or aggressive dogs that need to wear a muzzle on a daily basis we came up with conversion kits that anyone who has a muzzle can replace the strap's buckles to a quick release. This makes putting the muzzle on and taking it off a very quick and easy task.

Ed Frawley has also produced an additional detailed online course titled, How We Condition Our Dog to Wear a Muzzle.   This course explains how to use free shaping: luring: and forcing a dog that will not free shape or lure to wear muzzles. The goal is to end up with a dog that accepts a muzzle and feels comfortable wearing a muzzle.

Very often reactive or aggressive dogs have been forced into a very sheltered life, simply because of the risk they pose to their owners. Once these dogs have been conditioned to a muzzle they end up loving it because they are now able to go on walks with their owners, they can do fun things that they could never do before.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Dog owners with aggressive dogs, dogs that habitually eat things they shouldn't (i.e. rocks and socks), dogs with medical conditions that lick wounds or bandages, dogs that don't like being groomed or dogs that don't like their nails cut.

Customer Testimonial

"We just wanted to give everyone at Leerburg a huge THANK YOU!! for all that you guys do! Our muzzle arrived super quick and fit perfectly. Our pitbull mix didn't even need to be conditioned to wear it. He acts like it's not even on him, which speaks highly of how comfortable it must be. Every single other muzzle we have tried has immediately been pawed at and removed by him. This will be life-changing for him and us as he is dog-reactive on walks, and has already allowed me to feel comfortable enough taking him even more places. Thank you all again so much for all of your hard work! Cannot thank your great team enough!!"
